At TU Dresden the SFB 912 – HAEC (Highly Adaptive Energy Efficient Computing) offers as of 1st July 2015 two positions (subject to budget approval) for


Research Fellow (Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

The contract is limited until 30th June 2017 with the possibility of extension until the end of project at 30th June 2019. The period of employment is governed by §2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).

Tasks: Both positions are part of the HAEC sub-project about knowledge representation and reasoning using graph databases and navigational query languages. The main research tasks in the project are related to graph databases, ontology-based data access, and query annswering and optimisation, with a focus on the envisioned HAEC computing architecture. The project involves theoretical research in ontologies and databases, as well as the creation of practical demonstrators to showcase research results and to enable collaborations with other sub-projects of HAEC. In addition, the participation in HAEC research meetings, the active exchange with other researchers within HAEC, and the publication of results in peer-reviewed conferences and journals are expected. The holders of the advertised positions will have the opportunity of gathering valuable project experience in an international team of excellent researchers, with close connections to the research groups of Franz Baader, Markus Krötzsch, and Wolfgang Lehner.

Requirements: university degree (Diploma/M.Sc.) in computer science or related subjects; applied or theoretical knowledge related to data and knowledge management, esp. in the context of distrivuted or parallel systems; good command of the English language; ability and willingness to carry out independent, conceptual and scientific work in a team; interest in practical, interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from research and industry. Especially useful are skills in the areas of knowledge representation, intelligent systems, as well as programming skills (C++ and/or Java).
